About the Director

-

Bringing seven years of teaching experience and serving as the Director of Bands at Peck Community Schools for the past four years, Mr. Michael Klepp has orchestrated an exciting transformative journey for the music program. In just a short time since his arrival in 2020, the band program has soared to new heights, showcasing a remarkable elevation in both quality and prestige.

Under Michael's adept guidance, the program has become a point of pride within the school district and community, boasting an impressive 88% enrollment increase and poised for continued growth. Notably, the band program has achieved unprecedented milestones, securing straight First Division Ratings at the MSBOA District 3 Band & Orchestra Festival in 2022—a feat repeated in 2023. Further solidifying their musical prowess, both bands excelled at the 2023 State Band Festival with outstanding First Division ratings. In a historic achievement, the Marching Band made its debut at the TFOTA Marching Band Festival, earning a First Division rating and placing 3rd overall out of 13 competing bands.

Amidst these significant achievements, what truly sets Michael  is his unwavering commitment to the students. Beyond fostering musical excellence, he sees himself as a leader dedicated to imparting valuable music skills that will resonate throughout their lives. In addition to directing the band, he leads a strategic elementary music program, further enriching the musical education experience for students. In 2022, Michael's exceptional contributions were recognized with the prestigious Peck Community Schools Educator of the Year award.

Michael's band students have had the honor of performing the National Anthem for the Detroit Tigers organization at Comerica Park and was selected to showcase their musical talents at the Magical Stage of Disney World in Orlando, FL, further cementing their reputation as an outstanding ensemble. Michael has been a guest speaker at the Michigan Music Conference and has worked with numerous band programs as a brass and marching clinician since 2013. He is an active member of the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association as well as the National Association for Music Education. As a performer, Michael performs professionally at religious ceremonies and in local pit orchestras.

Residing in Yale, MI, with his wife, Elsa, and their son Clarence, the Klepp family eagerly anticipates the arrival of their second child in April. And let's not forget Penelope, their lively Treeing Walker Coonhound.

When not immersed in directing the band, Michael can be found spending precious time with his family, meticulously washing his car, or passionately cheering for the Detroit Lions.
